Panic Inc is a Mac software company that builds FTP clients, web development software, and more. I ran across this Status Board because I found a link via Lifehacker to this blog post all about it. On their self-built board, they keep track of all sorts of project-related items, such as progress, due dates, Twitter mentions, meetings and more. Apparently, this board has been working wonders on the team:
"Our support turnaround time is faster than it’s ever been. Just the simple act of “publicizing” those numbers — not in a cruel way, but a “where are we at as a group?” way — has kept the support process on-task and, I think, made it a bit more like a video game. (It helps that when all the boxes are at “zero”, a virtual bottle of champagne appears on-screen, and a physical one is likely removed from the fridge.)"I think this concept is something that a lot of teams could replicate with similar results (and I have to admit that a part of me just loves that it's shiny and has lots of colors). The idea of making progress visible and visibly rewarding results seems to me that it would be a fantastic motivator for a team. myKeyO The Keyboard Organizer
CNet Youtube Review of Keyboard Organizer Ok, so this one kinda just made me laugh when I first saw it, and the website selling it looks more than a little sketchy and outdated, but the more I thought about it, the better of an idea I thought this product was. For a lot of people, a cluttered desk gets in the way of productivity. Even if it doesn't for you, as Penelope Trunk has pointed out, if you have a messy desk, people perceive you to be less productive. Having a quick and easy place to throw some of your clutter seems like a great way to help with this issue. USB Pet Rock
